Default No Halloween Gifts for survivors?

Can anyone confirm that any 'accidental deaths' that might occur in town during the mad king's visit, won't raise your deathcount?

Oh, I hope not. I know cut-scene deaths (intended ones) don't count. But, rogue minions killing you during a cut scene do count.

yes, he did slaughter players last year, much to our delight and when we never had a stupid survivor title to worry about.

However, in the start to factions, the noob-explanation of the rez shrine does not incur deaths, even though you appear to die.

There is a simple way to test it. Visit the mad king with a non-survivor character, and do the event. Check your death count before and after. If it went up, you know the deaths count. If it didn't, then your survivor characters can safely attend the event during the Mad King's next appearance.

Thanks - I had intended to do that but may only be around for 1 visit and really wanted the gear for my necro who has the survivor title 1 and is aiming for lvl2.

Someone from Anet really should confirm this or put a warning on the Halloween info page if deaths do count, as I can see a LOT of people getting really annoyed otherwise.

Well I should be able to get on for one of the early appearances (probably the 3rd one, at 9am est), so I'll do a check myself and post the results here, with screenshot confirmation for any doubters =)

When I first started Factions the rez shrine counted as a death to me.

I have checked this and as of a week ago it didn't count as a death they must have updated it to fit with the title.

When I /resigned in a mission and died it did not count as a death. So it is possible that dying sometimes will not count as a death.

Yes I was gonna say, try it with a nonsurvivor character first. If you die during the game, do you still come back to life and get the prize?

dont know if this is the same thing but after shiro kills u in the cutscene after completing the vizunah square mission.. i got a death.. some ppl dont and some do??dunno.. but i did not have a death before that.. i even wrote to support about it.. lol "Our developers will not be able to personally respond to you to let you know the status of this issue or any related fix, but please be assured that they are looking into the issue." yeah right..

anyway, it's funny cause i did the mission before and everyone skipped the cutscene but for some mad reason i wanted to do the mission again.. one person didnt skip.. and when i saw that we died.. i was like oh no.. and did a /death look.. 1 death.. bah.. so from now on, i just leave after completing mission.. no worries

Well, heres a good solution for you.

Certainly you have at least ONE character that cant get its survivor title since they might have died at some point already ( you cant be trying survivor on all Characters right? o_O )

So you first bring these to the mad King and put the theory in action.
When you die, check deaths, and see if it was raised.
If it was, your safe at least and wont risk losing your title unneccessarily.
If it isnt, youl feel safe and be able to get fun(and an special Head thingie) out of Mad Kings excuses for murder.

Why exactly would you take your SURVIVOR to meet the Mad King if your worried about getting deaths for it? Surely you have more than 1 character?

Because the prize comes pre-customized to the char you are using? So if you want said char to have and be able to use the item, you GOTTA USE THAT CHAR?

If your character just recently got to Lions Arch, it's probably no big loss if it does and loses the title anyways. You can try the game with a character that isn't going for the title and see how easy or difficult it is to do without dying. And if it does't count towards deaths, then it doesn't matter.
